Hello,

I am a Norwegian paraglider pilot currently doing an internship in Athens. I will stay here until the end of August and would like to fly as much as possible during the weekends (I work 9-16 weekdays).

At paragliderfoum.com I was told that you fly at Plataies. (http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2669) Is there anyone going there from Athens Saturday or Sunday? I would love to come.. Thanks for replys here and generally making me feel welcome. And a big thank you to George and Makis for helping me getting to and from take-off. I've had some nice flights here already and hope to continue like that.

I was just told that Monday is a public holiday.. Is there anyone going further away for flying the whole weekend? Is flying up north good now? Is there also public transport to the best flying sites up there?

2 pilots are going to drama (9 hours north from athens) for a big comp there. Another group is going to Crete for the holiday for a friendly para-gathering over there, some pilots are going to Amfikleia (2 hours west of Athens) and many pilots will be flying every day at Platees.

Thanks, Alex! Lots of options then.. I'm somewhat late with the planning. Where is it still possible to join? A para-gathering in Crete sounds very good. Any registration? Might not be any ferry tickets left this late though..
The comp in Drama might also be interesting. Is it possible to free fly as well there?
Do you have an opinion on where it would be better for flying this weekend? Where is better for cross country?

XC: Amfiklia or Kitheronas
Fun: Crete
Competition: Drama

I'd say Kitheronas or Amfiklia are your best bets for last minute planning (the weather looks good also).

Try finding a ticket for Crete and go if you do. It's gonna be loads of fun (beach flying, swiming, partying etc)

Since it seems like everybody who flies around here reads the forum, I just thought I'd post my new, GREEK mobile number: 6978048621.
It seems like there's a lot of information on this webpage and someone mentioned that there might be some in English as well.. Is that right..? Is there for instance a calendar of this summer's paragliding events in Greece?
I had a very nice, relaxing weekend in Crete by the way. Great food.
